Slit shell snail

Slit shell snails are still around today, so its been a successful empire. Successful in evolutionary terms, perhaps, but you can't really argue they've made an enormous cultural contribution or taken the sporting world by storm.

These are Pleuratomaria, 165 million years old, from Sakaraha in Madagascar, and have been polished.
