What's happening - news story - 10 Jun 2014
This and that
I've neglected the news part of the site lately, in favour of regular Facebook posting, so thought it best to stick up a general run through of what's been going on and what's about to happen in Mr Wood's Fossils...
I went collecting in April, for the first time in quite a while. We were looking for shark coprolites for cutting and polishing, and were fairly successful. The bulk were for a specific order a friend needed in the run-up to Christmas - the preparation is a lengthy process, so they needed to be gathered well in advance. Turns out we didn't get quite enough of the larger pieces, so back we go next week for another sweep.
I leave for the Sainte Marie-aux-Mines show on the 24th, and will be there just under a week. With stock levels as they are, there's not much I need but I have a shopping list of a few essentials. I need to top up on Baltic amber, Brazilian agate geodes, Peruvian clams, French ammonites and Ethiopian opals, for starters.
The Grassmarket has started to get busy as tourists arrive in the city. Although it's always been a nice place to visit, there's more going on in the area now than ever before. Regular markets and cultural events help keep the place vibrant and interesting. And then it's not too long until the Frince now, either.
