Amethyst silver pendant

Amethyst is a much-loved purple gemstone variety of quartz. The colour is the result of iron impurities and perhaps traces of organic inclusions. It has been used as a gemstone for thousands of years; the Egyptians wearing amethyst bracelets into battle as a protection charm.

Most commercially available material is from Brazil, but it's commonly found all over the world.
