Photo of Crotalocephalina fossil

This is a slightly odd-looking trilobite, with a distinctive cephalon. Its name - Crotalocephallina gibbus -means rattlesnake head, which I suppose you can see if you squint a little. It is from the famous Alnif site in Morocco, and crawled the sea floor about 390 million years ago.
