Photo of cinnabar

Cinnabar is mercury sulphide, and usually found in massive form with a silvery pink colour. These are a rarer find - deep red crystals on dolomite. The name is derived from the Persian for dragon's blood, which will give you an idea of the depth of colour. These crystals are from the Hunan Province of China.

Small crystals on matrix of between 4.5-6cm
